Review Policy
If you are an author or publisher looking for an honest book review I am more than happy to provide one. I will review books that are self published, ARCs, finished copies, through a publisher, directly from the author, just about anything!
Seeing as I am easing back into this I don’t want to go too big too soon. The genres I will be more inclined to accept are
- Australian
- Young Adult
- General Fiction
There are genres that I will not consider. These include:
- Erotica
- Horror (though Thriller/Suspense is still acceptable)
Acceptable formats:
I will happily accept an ebook or a paperback/hardback copy (physical copies are more fun but shipping is an understandable problem so I don’t mind which). Formats for ebooks are either .mobi or .pdf, or if you want to gift it through Amazon etc that is perfectly acceptable as well.
Review Expectations:
The length of my reviews are usually around 500 words but can vary between 500-1000. I aim to write reviews that are 100% honest and if I point out any issues I have I do so in a constructive and suitable manner. I have no desire and see no benefit in being unhelpful in my critiquing.
If you have supplied me with an ARC copy you can also be assured that there will be no sharing or duplications of the copy even after the review has been published.
When writing a review I will include the following things:
- The book title
- Author
- Publication date
- Publisher
- Page numbers
- Synopsis (typically from Goodreads, StoryGraph, Amazon, or from supplied book blurb)
- Book cover
- Purchase links*
If you would like any more details or any specific information included in addition to those mentioned on the list please let me know and I will be happy to include it.
*Note: Usually I will get purchase links from online bookshops, Amazon and/or from information posted on author/publisher websites. If you want to include the details about where your book can be purchased in your contact email you’re welcome to but don’t worry, it’s not compulsory.
Time Frame:
Once I have received a book I will aim to get a review up as soon as possible but if there is a particular day or before/after a certain date you would like the review to go up please let me know.
Please be aware that if I have a lot of review requests lined up I will review them in the order I was asked (if no publication date has been requested) so this may postpone a review publication slightly so please be patient, the review will still come.
Rating system:
Before giving a book a rating I consider everything I did and did not like about it, most of which will be explained in my review, but as a general guide I follow these rules when providing a rating.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ – 5 Stars It was amazing
★ ★ ★ ★ – 4 Stars I really liked it
★ ★ ★ – 3 Stars I liked it
★ ★ – 2 Stars It was ok
★ – 1 Stars I didn’t like it
Where I post:
I will post my review on the blog, Goodreads, StoryGraph, and Amazon. The reviews posted on Goodreads, StoryGraph, and Amazon may be a shorter, edited version, mainly because long reviews on these sites are not always helpful but I will always include a link to the longer version on the blog. If there is anywhere else you would like my review published just let me know.
Also, when I have posted the review I will email you with the link.
