I know that – what we are. But why do you hate me?

Escape.

It was the only word pounding through fallen angel Sage Cross’ mind when her world came crashing in. Fallon was nothing but a painful memory, something she wanted – no, needed – to forget.

Now she has a chance to let that part of her past go and be in a place where she can finally heal. A place where lamia and lapsus don’t exist and she can just be… Sage. But of course, it doesn’t last.

Nothing ever lasts.

Her happily mediocre life with her cat familiar, Sunny, and best friends, Janie and Perkins, is nothing but a mirage. Especially when a brooding vampire – first name Adam, last name irrelevant – takes root in her life. Someone who hates her for simply existing, yet she is unable to get him out of her mind.

Or her heart.

With her brother and friends in danger, Sage is the key to either ending it all or causing the destruction of not one, but two supernatural beings.

Fallen angels. Lapsus.

Vampires. Lamia.

Who will survive?

Sage, the final installment in the Blood Crave Series.

Library Loot #2

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Linda from Silly Little Mischief that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

I am learning to control my borrowing recently knowing I have so much uni work to do that getting too many may be a stretch for two weeks. That and I bought a whole stack of new books from the writers festival I should read, not to mention the books I’ve been asked to review. But I had to get a couple, especially the John Connolly books that I have been trying to find for months. Why is it that libraries have every other number in a series but one?

Newcastle Writers Festival on Reflection

After two wonderful days and one wonderful evening the 2nd Newcastle Writers Festival is over. Once again I have been exposed to so many new and wonderful authors, all of whose works I now have to devour.

At the opening night Wendy Harmer made everyone laugh and think and every author I had the honour of listening to was a wealth of knowledge and provided many laughs of their own in each event.  And even for all the sessions I was unable to attend  I have no doubt that everyone took something away from it and with a smile on their face.

Of the highlights I can’t say I have a single favourite, though there is a small bias towards all things fairy tales and short stories.

After learning and listening about crime fiction, children books, fairy tales, short stories and much much more I can be sure to say that I have a myriad of ideas, knowledge, admiration, and wonderment as a result…not to mention sore feet and empty pockets.

With a chance to get signed copies, the occasional photo and sneaky chat, plus up and close interaction with a variety of authors, there was a strange form of intimacy as you all wandered the same city hall, seeing the same familiar faces in audiences and even seeing those who were on previous panels now sitting beside you in the audience of another.

The new city hall location was good as it allowed quick journeys from room to room and let us stay dry in the brief rainfall event.

Macleans the booksellers also did an excellent job in getting books to their devoted would be owners and it was fascinating watching the piles of books drop so drastically in a matter of moments.  I myself came out of the weekend with four bags and 14 new books for my ever growing shelves, not to mention all the great authors I discovered.

All in all it was it was a superb weekend once again, one that went by far too quickly and one I already look forward to in 2015.

We must also continue to thank Rosemaree Milsom for thinking up this wonderful festival and making it one I look forward to attending for many years into the future.

Cover Reveal: The Stag Lord by Darby Kaye

Reveal
Today I have a great cover reveal to share for Darby Kaye’s book The Stag Lord. The wonderful cover design was done by none other than Errick Nunnally who you may remember I did a cover reveal for back in April of last year with his book Blood of the Sun.

The Stag Lord is due for release October 28th thanks to Spence Publishing so keep an eye out for it or add it to your to read pile!

Stag Lord full jacket

Synopsis
On the run across America from a vengeful shape-shifter, Bannerman “Bann” Boru has only one thing on his mind: keeping himself and his young son, Cor, alive.  At any cost. Until he meets Shay Doyle, healer and member of a secret group of immortal Celtic warriors, the *Tuatha De Danaan*, living in modern-day Colorado. When Cor is injured, Bannerman is forced to accept her help. He quickly realizes that the golden-haired healer is shield-maiden tough and can hold her own on the field of battle with the big boys. And Shay soon discovers that there is more to Bann than meets the eye.
Now, with the shape-shifter Cernunnos teaming up with the local pack of Fir Bolgs (Bronze Age creatures with a nasty taste for children), Bannerman, Shay, her wolf-dog, Max, and the rest of the Doyle clan must figure out how to battle one insane god.

This was my first library trip in a couple of weeks and while my library isn’t filled with all the books I want to read they have some pretty great ones. My goal this year is to finish my unfinished series, read more books of different genres, and find some new authors and books to fall in love with and for once my library actually came through on all accounts.
