9th Blogiversary + Int Giveaway!

NINE YEARS! Nine! What does that even mean? What kind of time frame is that? Nothing goes for nine years! And yet here we are, nine years later after a lot of everything happening I’m still here posting my nonsense and babbling on. It’s been incredible fun and rewarding. I can think back to the early days where I had some amazing opportunities and no idea what I was doing, to the surprising influx of writers asking for my reviews, then having to stop doing that for a little while because I couldn’t say no and got myself so incredibly stressed. One day I will reopen them and try not to be so pleasing to everybody.

A lot has happened over the years and yet it seems not that long ago either. I have had a lot of fun writing these reviews. I get to share my thoughts and opinions about books I’ve loved (and some I have not) and seeing people read books based on what I have reviewed is always amazing to me.

Today is a day to celebrate though and so per tradition I am giving away goodies to celebrate my blogiversary. This year I am giving away two books to make up for my five month absence. I actually don’t have 5 top of 2021 (more on that in a later post) but I have included those that made the cut as well as some other favourites that I’ve read in the last few years that came close to five stars but didn’t quite make it over the line.

A poster that has eight book covers on it. The words Lost in a Good Book's 9th Blogiversary Giveaway are at the top. The word Enter to win one of these titles Open Internationally are at the bottom.

8th Blogiversary Celebrations + Int Giveaway!

Eight years today. Eight years! I will continue to be astounded by the passing of time every single year I celebrate my blogiversary because I am still mentally half back in that third year mark or somewhere even around the fifth where that was a mini milestone and seemed like a huge number. Now I’m at eight years and it’s closer to ten than not and that’s a whole thing in itself.

In eight years I know my writing has improved, I know I have read some amazing books, and shared some wonderful adventures but I also know I have been able to share all my thoughts and rambles and opinions with some great people in the book and blogging community. I would like to thank the wonderful people who have been following me from the very beginning, to those who found me along the way, and those who stuck around during those times when everything went a bit haywire over the years. I am incredibly grateful.

Last year was a year nobody was expecting so to come through the other side with people still wanting to read my reviews and my thoughts means the world.

I am excited about what this next year of blogging will bring, I have a few ideas up my sleeve for features which I am excited for and even though in person book events are on hold, there are always virtual events to look forward to.

Today though is all about celebrating and thanking you guys! I’m feeling super generous this year and I am giving THREE lucky people the chance to win ONE of the books from the selection below. Included is my Top Five reads from 2020 as well as a few other favourites I read this past year.

I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman

I’m Back! (with goodies to share)

First of all, I am well aware it has been An Age since I last posted on my blog. Even my well intentions around June for Pride fell flat because of Reasons but I finally find myself in the right state of mind that I am not only excited but actually capable of posting things again (whoo!). Before you all panic, I will not be backlogging the last three months with posts, but I will be posting a lot of my posts that were meant to come out during that time i.e my AWW update, my book bingo update etc. So I will combine those into one post and the last couple updates can be done in one go and I can get back on track.

I am not coming back with nothing. I have a huge amount of reviews to share because while I have not been posting I have still been reading. One thing I am eternally grateful for is audiobooks, for which the last five months have been keeping me sane. For all those times I haven’t even been able concentrate on reading a physical book I have had my headphones in my ears with a book playing. I have kept up my Goodreads reading challenge by reading book after book and being able to do that when I have had such an intense 2020 has been an absolute life saver.

Of course, writing many of these reviews still need to happen but I will get there because I have been taking notes and once I get back into the swing of things I will be able to post with my usual schedule. I will be posting less than before but if I can I will post more, so don’t panic if I post something and then you don’t hear from me for a week. I don’t want to post everything I have and in a few weeks be back with nothing to share.

And it’s not just my prattling that you get to enjoy again, since I am back I can celebrate and reward everyone for sticking with me and not abandoning me on the socials and for still visiting my dormant blog – you’re all wonderful! I know I promised this months ago for the Facebook group but I am going to combine and join forces with the blog. I will be running two giveaways to thank you all – one here and one on Facebook. Full details will be below and you are more than welcome to enter both!

I will leave you with my gratitude again, and my apologies because while I know a lot of us have had a hell of a 2020 due to the pandemic and a whole bunch of other things, and so many people have been affected in one way or another, I’m glad I can come back here to this community, to my little corner of the internet and find some sense of normalcy in a year that has been far from normal.

Giveaway

Now for the fun part! I am giving you a chance to win one of the books off my Top 5 from 2019 list. The full list is below or you can visit the original post page for extra details and links to my reviews. To enter into the giveaway I will be running them slightly differently: Head over to Facebook to check out my pinned post and learn how you can enter that one, if you’d like to enter the blog one head over to Rafflecopter and get your entries in to win. The prize is the same but you can enter both.

The giveaway will run until 11:59pm AEDT 21st October 2020 and is open internationally

Good luck and thank you!
