Agatha’s previous life in PR is the initial focus of the story which is refreshing. I also love that we’re moving around to other villages so poor Carsley isn’t the only village losing residents or visitors on a regular basis. Overall it was a good story, the character’s stories progressed even if the murder and mystery aspect was a letdown.
It’s a gripping and satisfying conclusion to this series. It wouldn’t be a Cowell story without some heartbreaking moments amongst those of triumph. There is no doubt she has power in her words that on the surface look whimsical and silly, but look closer and you can see commentary about love and justice, about bravery and believing in yourself.

This a cross over book as Archibald the Naughtiest Elf moves on from Christmas and into other holidays. The main problems I have with this book is that it’s long. There are A LOT of words per page and the story itself is long and drawn out which doesn’t suit the picture book format; it is more suited to being a chapter book with a few pictures.
6th April is #InternationalAsexualityDay! To celebrate I'm sharing my review of one of the best books about it. I ADORE this book. I love so many of Oseman’s works but this one I fell into and didn’t want to climb out of again. It’s messy and beautiful and full of the power of friendship and it is also full of love.
I am always wary about these kinds of books not only because it’s always focused on the introverts and never on the extroverts but because introverts are often portrayed in negative ways. Even this book, which I thought was going to be at least funny if not relatable in a way, is a poor construct of comics, advice and what is probably meant to be humour but never comes across as such.
